FAQ
Q: What if my dancer can’t make the audition day?
A: Please email us in advance. We will schedule a private audition, but please note that the fee for a private audition is higher than the regular audition fee on May 30th & 31st.
Q: What if my dancer is nervous or new?
A: That’s totally normal! We create a supportive environment and love seeing dancers who are eager to learn and grow.
If your dancer isn’t ready to attend our May 30–31 auditions or needs to keep things private, we offer confidential private auditions as well. We’ve worked with many families in similar situations, and we’ll make sure your dancer feels comfortable and supported.
Q: What dance styles and techniques are emphasized?
A: Our dancers train in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, and hip-hop. Technique is a major focus in our program, with dedicated classes for stretching & strengthening, technique, and ballet. We prioritize strong foundations to help dancers grow in both performance and versatility.
Q: Can my dancer audition if they’re not currently training at Studio X?
A: Yes, auditions are open to the public! Just make sure to register online.
Q: When does the season start?
A: Training begins in summer, and our season runs from July/August to June/July. Competitions typically start in late fall or winter.
Q: What’s the time commitment for company dancers?
A: Our dancers train Monday - Thursday for about 3 hours each day, not including any additional solo/group rehearsals. We intentionally keep Fridays open to give dancers balance. This time can be used for rest, homework, extra training, or prep for competitions and conventions (which often begin on Fridays). By keeping a consistent Mon–Thurs schedule, dancers can fully commit to their training while still having space for recovery, academics, or other interests.
